Ignite the Root: Reclaiming Safety, Stability, and Power Through the Root Chakra

February 05, 20264 min read

Welcome to Ignite: The Chakra Edition—a space created not for more hustle, strategy, or proving, but for activation. This series is designed to help women leaders, business owners, and visionaries work with their inner GPS: the chakra system.

Because the truth is this—
you don’t lack strategy.
You lack safety in the body to hold what you desire.

And that begins at the root.

Your Chakras Are Not Woo—They’re Your GPS

Many women approach chakras with surface-level awareness. We know they exist, we’ve heard their names, but we haven’t been taught how to work with them in real life—especially in leadership, money, health, and decision-making.

Your chakras are not abstract concepts.
They are information centers connected to your nervous system, endocrine system, and lived experience.

They tell you:

  • when something is off

  • when your body doesn’t feel safe

  • when you’re building from fear instead of power

And the root chakra is where it all begins.

The Root Chakra: Where Safety Lives (or Doesn’t)

The root chakra sits at the base of the spine—connected to the pelvic floor, hips, legs, feet, lower back, and elimination. Energetically, it governs:

  • safety

  • stability

  • survival

  • money

  • home

  • belonging

Here’s the key truth:

Your body decides if you are safe enough to succeed.

If the root chakra is dysregulated, the body stays in protection mode. And when the body is protecting, it cannot create, receive, or expand.

This is why so many brilliant, capable women feel stuck, tired, foggy, or in constant overdrive—even after doing “all the mindset work.”

When the Root Is Dysregulated, It Shows Up Everywhere

A blocked or unstable root chakra can look like:

  • chronic lower back, hip, leg, or foot pain

  • digestive issues or constipation

  • exhaustion that doesn’t resolve with rest

  • high cortisol and chronic stress

  • decision paralysis and overthinking

  • undercharging, people-pleasing, or overdelivering

  • overspending for temporary relief

  • fear of slowing down

  • feeling like “if I stop, everything will fall apart”

This isn’t a character flaw.
It’s a nervous system response.

Your nervous system does not care how smart, talented, or qualified you are.
It only cares how safe you feel.

Ancestral Weight Lives in the Root

The root chakra also holds ancestral and generational trauma.

For many women—especially Black women and women of color—this includes inherited stories around:

  • scarcity

  • survival

  • overwork

  • self-sacrifice

  • money being unsafe or unavailable

  • success being dangerous or disloyal

It’s important to remember:
in our lifetime, women gained the legal right to open bank accounts and buy homes independently.

We are the first generations navigating freedom without a blueprint.

So when fear arises around money, stability, visibility, or rest—it didn’t start with you.

And it doesn’t have to end with you either.

Safety Is Not the Reward—It’s the Requirement

One of the most powerful reframes we explored:

What if stability wasn’t the reward for success, but the requirement for it?

You don’t build safety after you succeed.
You succeed because your body feels safe enough to hold it.

Your nervous system can only be in one state at a time:

  • protection or

  • creation

It cannot be in both.

Rooted women do not rush.
Rooted women do not chase.
Rooted women do not prove.

They move when ready—and let the world adjust.

A Somatic Invitation: Grounding the Root

In this session, we anchored into the body through grounding and breath—feet flat on the floor, spine softening into gravity, breath moving downward.

The intention we rooted into:

I root into safety.
I lead from stability.
I receive from overflow.

This is not metaphor.
This is nervous system regulation.

And regulation is leadership.

Healing Isn’t About Fixing—It’s About Remembering

The work of the root chakra is not about “doing more.”
It’s about coming home.

Home to your body.
Home to your truth.
Home to a foundation built on safety instead of survival.

As one powerful reminder from this session:

Harriet Tubman did what she did so you wouldn’t have to.

We are running old scripts in a new world.
And it’s time to write a different one.

What Comes Next

This is just the beginning.

Over the next seven weeks, we will move through each chakra—unwinding old patterns, restoring safety, and recalibrating how you lead, earn, love, and live.

Not from hustle.
Not from fear.
But from wholeness.

Because what you build will only grow as deep as your root.

And now… you’re rooting differently.
